I am writing to you to share my perspective on the recent market downturn as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to encourage you to maintain focus on your goals.
We understand this is a trying time for anyone directly or indirectly affected. We send our well wishes to anyone who is unwell or has family members affected.
It is important to realise that downturns are not rare events. Typical investors, in all markets, endure multiple downturns during their lifetimes. I acknowledge it can be unsettling to witness a decline of your portfolio during one of these events.
The most valuable advice I can provide is the importance of maintaining a long-term view. I remind you to place your long-term objectives ahead of worries about short-run turbulence, and to focus on what you can control and what we can control together. Attaining your goals is more important than a knee jerk action in the short term.
Please rest assured we are staying abreast of current market information and our advisors are available to discuss the facts, how you are feeling and to develop a plan for how to best weather the market and economic disruption.
This advice is general and does not take into account, financial situation or needs. You should consider if the advice if suitable for you and your personal circumstances.
